Between the ages of 8 and 11, the child is in mixed dentition, i.e. his or her teeth are made up of both milk teeth and permanent teeth. This is then the time for the interception phase, an orthodontic treatment that will treat abnormalities that appear early in the child.
This is the time when most parents take their children. The orthodontist will be able to act on several elements: correct and direct the growth of the jaw, regulate the width of the arches, create more space for the teeth, avoid the need for extraction of permanent teeth, correct the effects of thumb sucking, or intervene on minor speech problems.
