From the age of 4/5, rarely before, when the child still has only baby teeth and is therefore still in temporary dentition, it is possible to intervene with a preventive treatment: this is functional orthodontics.
Developmental abnormalities can sometimes already be treated, sometimes due to bad habits such as thumb or pacifier sucking.
These early interventions can thus make subsequent interventions simpler, faster and less costly.
A preventive treatment will aim to limit the appearance of cavities and avoid jaw imbalance problems leading to breathing or pronunciation difficulties. The treatment will help the permanent teeth to align correctly, but may still require additional follow-up later.
